Beading and Disco Music

Monday, February 3, 2025

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, patients/residents vibed to the disco tunes of the 1970s, while creating beaded jewelry.

Listening to the upbeat tunes of such artists as Gloria Gaynor and Shalamar, participants explored their creativity by stringing colored beads onto a nylon cord to craft eye-catching necklaces and bracelets. This social activity helped to foster cognitive and fine motor skills. For example, searching for the desired bead, and looking for the hole to loop it, required participants to concentrate and focus on their eye-hand coordination. In addition, when physically picking the beads to thread, participants activated the muscles in their hands and fingers.
