Ernestine Berry Celebrates Her 110th Birthday!!!

Ernestine Berry, a resident at the Parker Jewish Institute, celebrated her 110th birthday on Friday, February 28, 2025. Family, friends and the devoted team members, who provide care for Ms. Berry, gathered to celebrate this monumental milestone. Members of the media also visited to highlight the birthday celebration and to showcase Ms. Berry’s extraordinary life.

The eldest of 12 children, Ms. Berry was born and raised in Alabama and later moved to California. She then relocated to New York, leaving her job as a bus driver in California. It was in New York, that she began working as a teacher's assistant. In her 50-year career, she inspired her students and created lasting relationships. Many of her students still keep in touch with Ms. Berry, often calling and visiting her. Ms. Berry had one son, has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She has a close relationship with her granddaughter, Paulette Glen, a schoolteacher.

At age 110, Ernestine Berry radiates kindness and wisdom. The Parker Jewish Institute team is truly honored that Ms. Berry has entrusted the Institute with her care and looks forward to many happy occasions ahead.
