National Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month – April 2025

NATIONAL CANCER PREVENTION MONTH
April is dedicated to National Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month. This serves as a crucial reminder to us all of the importance of healthy behaviors and routine cancer screenings to reduce our risk. These screenings can mean better outcomes for your health—which means more treatment options, more healthy days ahead, and more time to spend with the people you love.
Did you know?
In the United States for 2023, 45% of the 609,820 cancer deaths estimated to occur are expected to be attributable to cancer risk factors that are all potentially modifiable.
For instance, people can make varying efforts to change their lifestyle to reduce the risk of cancer by eliminating or limiting:
- Cigarette smoking
- Secondhand smoke exposure
- Excess body weight
- Alcohol intake
- Unhealthy dietary intake
- Lack of Physical Activity
- Ultraviolet radiation exposure
- Cancer-associated infections
It’s time to take the power away from cancer. This month, check your health and raise awareness for cancer prevention and early detection.
