Celebrating Shavuot at the Parker Jewish Institute

Monday, June 9, 2025

Parker Jewish Institute celebrated the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, which began on Sunday, June 1, 2025, and ended on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. The holiday commemorates the giving of the Torah to Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai. Those who celebrate Shavuot reaffirm their commitment to the laws and guidance of the Torah, through study and by hearing the 10 Commandments. Other customs include lighting holiday candles, enjoying dairy delights and more.

During the holiday, Rabbi Wolf visited Parker to lead in prayer and observance. Patients, residents, families and friends joined together to read from the Torah and reflect on the spiritual significance of Shavuot. The holiday reinforced a shared commitment to living with integrity and compassion.
