Corporate, business, finance, and health care leaders gathered at Flushing Meadows' Terrace on the Park to honor 29 men who have made outstanding contributions to the communities of Queens County in 2011. The "Kings of Queens" were joined by Matilda Cuomo, author and former New York State First Lady, who received the "Woman of the Year" Award, and New York City Comptroller John Liu, who received the Man of the Year Award. Among those honored was Robert M. Werner, Vice President for Finance and CFO of the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation. Reporting on Mr. Werner's selection, The Queens Courier and Queens Business Today noted: "Given the uncertain economy, the proposed cuts in programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, and the unprecedented growth of the older adult population, perhaps no other contemporary executive is faced with more challenges than the financial heads of long term care organizations. At the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, Robert M. Werner has helped meet those challenges with a wealth of experience, expertise and energy."
